The ice will be melting, but not very fast. Like when you put an ice-cube in a drink, it doesn't vanish immediately. This is a very big ice-cube and a relatively small drink.

Depending on the temperature, the rain might actually be insulating the ice. It happens here in Alaska a lot. Then, overnight, it all freezes over.
